I remember days when the pain was so great, I would have to leave work and just sit in my car and cry. Those feelings of hurt, sadness and longing will never go away. But over the course of time, my adult child and I began a new chapter in Life. We now have a nice relationship. It took time, patience and letting my child know over those years how much I loved and cared without expectation of response.

Lovely piece of writing - divorced dad and father as hero in a classic tragedy. Character flaws make hero act, he get punished and only the gods are happy. And despite what we know about divorced fathers, I truly felt the hero's pain. Re catharsis, I'm still awaiting for a few of them from previous tragedies.
